Project's Activities Brief

DAY 1

ENERGIZERS

Every morning, before starting the activities of the day, we did some energizers. The idea was to help the participants leaving behind their fears, talking in english and starting to know each others better. They really enjoyed these short games because they allowed them to mix and talk to all the other participants.

KNOWING LGBTQIA+ DISCRIMINATION AROUND EUROPE

AND FEAR AND EXPECTATIONS

The participants divided by countries researched and wrote about the situation of the LGBTQ+ community and the discriminatory reality they face. Then each group presented the situation in their country. They shared the information on a poster or just explained to the rest of the participants. ) Each participant received an online form post-its (yellow and blue) and they wrote their expectations on the yellow post-its and their fears on the blue ones (as many as they want). They will stick them on two different walls in the meeting room. We reflected daily in what measure their expectations were met and their fears were avoided.

WALKING TOUR OF MADRID

A tour of the city and the main tourist spots was organised so that the participants could begin to get their bearings and get to know the city better, and then deepen their knowledge on the following days of the project. The guide told some historical anecdotes and curiosities, making the visit interesting and interactive for the participants.

DAY 2

ERASMUS+ PRESENTATION

We organised a session dedicated to presenting the Erasmus+ Programme and the benefits it brings to young Europeans. Thanks to this presentation, the young people learnt how the programme works, its objectives and main details.

FORUM THEATRE

The participants were separated in teams, created and performed short acts on a theme about LGBTQ+ community. At first, the end of the act was planned out negative and then in the second performance of the same act the audience could interfere in order to change the end of the act to a positive one.

THE MOVIE: “PRIDE”; DISCUSSION GROUP.

The participants watched the movie “Pride”. In the summer of 1984, Margaret Thatcher is in power and the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) is on strike. At Gay Pride in London, a group of gay and lesbian activists decide to raise money to support the families of the striking miners. But there's a problem. The Union seems embarrassed to receive their support. But the activists are not discouraged. They decide to ignore the Union and go directly to the miners. They identify a mining village in deepest Wales and set off in a mini bus to make the donation themselves. And so begins the extraordinary story of two seemingly alien communities forming a surprising and ultimately triumphant partnership. After watching the film, participants will have 30 minutes to discuss and confront what the film has aroused in them and the issues it addresses.

Learn more about the movie here.
